What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Medicine is a natural approach to addressing health. At its core is treating the whole person using natural modalities that help the body heal naturally.

Every sign and symptom is an indicator of dis-ease in the body, and that balance needs to be restored.

Naturopathic doctors are trained at accredited naturopathic medical schools. This rigorous training is in standard medical education with additional extensive training in various natural approaches to health. There are 6 principles in naturopathic medicine that are paramount to how they approach each person. This education allows naturopathic doctors to be fully equipped to provide clients with a broader scope of individualized care.

Although naturopathic doctors continue to be experts in natural medicine, licensure is only in 23 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. North Carolina is currently not a licensed state, so Naturopathic Doctors in this state can not diagnose and do not function as medical physicians. Naturopathic doctors in North Carolina work as wellness providers and offer suggestions to address your health goals.
